Built in the 1920s by the Pacific Coast Borax Company, this civic center housed miners and investors until 1942. After the closure of the railroad in Death Valley Junction, the hotel was abandoned. In 1967, a successful ballerina Marta Becket discovered the building and gave it a new life. She transformed the hall into the Amargosa Opera House, where she performed for over forty years. Becket also painted murals throughout the building. Today, visitors can stay at the hotel and enjoy Becket’s legacy.
